A Late Lunch to Remember Our Mom

Huntington Beach 2014

Today was the 14th Anniversary of our Mom's passing. My Lil sister and I had every intention of heading to Rose Hills to visit her, but sleep got the best of us. When you can't sleep, you do everything you can to fall asleep and stay asleep. After going on three days of not really sleeping, Mr Sandman gave me some real sleep and I wasn't passing it up.

When we finally got moving, we decided we would try out The Long board North side Restaurant. With Brooklynn and Christopher in tow, we headed to the restaurant. If you haven't been here yet, you should go and enjoy some yummy food. I started off with a Mai Tai to toast my mom, then ordered a cup of Clam Chowder and a Reuben Sandwich with pasta. These are all things my mom loved to eat. It takes a lot for Christopher to like any restaurant and he said, we'll be coming back here. So, if you find yourself in North Huntington Beach, check out this restaurant. You won't be disappointed!

We did make one last stop to celebrate my mom's life before heading home. It was to Dairy Queen for ice cream. My mom loved her ice cream. As for me, I can live with or without it, but she ate it every single night. We always had some form of ice cream in the freezer. Her favorite was Pralines and Cream. :-)

So, here's my last thought for the day...Mom, you're missed, loved and were the best mom anyone could have! Cheers!

A Sunny Day Dawning

It's Labor Day Weekend, the end of Summer for those of us in The Northern Hemisphere. Everyone is rushing to have that one last bonfire on the beach, or one last family camp out before the Summer is officially over. However, in Southern California Summer never really ends, now does it? Everyday here is a sunny day dawning, or 99% of the time. Just look at our water supply and you'd know we don't get much rain in SoCal. The song "It Never Rains in California" has never been so true to real life as it is now. Which brings me to my point, with all this sunshine why am I sitting around waiting for my life to begin again? Yes, I am currently injured and my soulmate has decided to soar his wings again with someone else, but I can still try and enjoy what God has given me in my life. I can make the most of it, can't I? Therefore, as of today, let the sun shine bright in my heart and I will bask in the sunlight God has given me.
